MOST pre-season friendlies are of little worth other than to increase match sharpness and allow supporters to catch a glimpse of any summer acquisitions. However, Dani Sanchez, the Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder, believes the visit of Real Valladolid tonight offers ideal preparation for their opening league encounter with Celtic.

The Spanish side were relegated from La Liga last season after enduring a torrid run of results in which they earned only three wins from 20 matches up to February. That form resulted in coach Jose Luis Mendilibar being replaced by former Spain coach Javier Clemente, but he was unable to prevent the club toppling out of the division.
