JUSTICE Secretary Kenny MacAskill last night said that GBP50m of taxpayers' money would be saved by the passage of an emergency bill closing the loophole that had allowed thousands of prisoners to claim compensation over slopping out.

The bill established a oneyear time limit for human rights claims on the issue.
