John Martin, The Garden of Eden (or Adam and Eve Entertaining the Angel), 1823 Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery Northumberland-born Martin was best known for apocalyptic religious subjects but this painting sees him in unusually cheerful frame of mind.
