I AM grateful for Alison Kerr's generous review of the new and new format Penguin Guide to Jazz in your Arts section ("Ear for a good read", The Herald, October 30). However, Ms Kerr suggests that my comments on cornetist Warren Vache are "rather dismissive and arrogant", reading "like the school report of someone who has only made it on to the shortlist by the skin of his teeth".
Really? I had thought my comments on Vache's 2gether CD amounted to a rave: "an unqualified delight"; "finesse, joyous invention and unassuming charm"and "as close to perfection as you can imagine a duet could ever be", which isn't well put, but the sentiment is unmistakable.See the full content of this document
