THOMSON Litho, the family-owned printing business founded by the late former Motherwell FC captain Matt Thomson, has been acquired by its Czech partner GZ Media, netting what may be modest windfalls for the footballer's four sons, The Herald has learned.

The East Kilbride-based business, which was founded in the late 1960s and now employs around 300 staff, describes itself as Scotland's largest independently-owned printing company, but its turnover and profits slipped dramatically last year amid the economic downturn.
