THE UK's dominant service sector grew in October at its fastest pace for more than two years - fuelling hopes that the overall economy will clamber out of deep recession in the fourth quarter.

Sterling jumped nearly two cents to $1.6572 in the wake of yesterday's much stronger than expected survey of services from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
