Summary
MAIRI Campbell and Dave Francis' entry in the Fringe brochure makes no mention of their connection with Sex and the City - a refreshing piece of modesty in an August full of personal trumpet blowing. But then, their hearthside-storytelling styled offering, The Red Earth, is a long way from the glamorous world to which their interpretation of Auld Lang Syne formed part of the soundtrack.
The Red Earth begins with a telephone call from Campbell's sister, saying that she'd found their grandfather's grave in China, goes back to the stirring of the Christian beliefs that took Campbell's great-grand-father to the Orient as a missionary ,and through anecdotes, family letters, songs and fiddle tunes it charts odyssey, near disaster, tragedy and adventure.See the full content of this document
