THE BBC licence fee is to stay for the next 10 years but the corporation's board of governors is to be axed.

Tessa Jowell, the culture secretary, told MPs the licence fee was still the fairest way of financing the BBC, but said there would be a review to examine other means of funding, including subscriptions.
