SCOTTISH Government support for the development of a cost- effective way to implement the electronic identification (EID) of sheep was boosted to pound(s)5 million.

First Minister Alex Salmond announced a further pound(s)1m funding for the Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society to extend the Scottish EID research, during a visit to former NFU Scotland president John Cameron's farm, Balbuthie in Fife.
