Summary

I am ashamed to admit that I spent a great deal of the 1980s dragging, ragging and rolling. All to no great effect, as the end result was an over-processed house with pizza-patterned walls. At the time, I would have welcomed Annie Sloan's Complete Book of Decorative Paint Finishes, described as "a step-by-step guide to mastering paint techniques for the home".

In these more minimalist times, the availability of smart ranges of paints have made home decorating less labour-intensive. While she promises to add creativity and innovation to your projects, the real charm of Sloan's book is that she is determined that the end result will be professional.
