SHETLAND Catch, one of the islands' most important employers, has seen profits slump amid "difficult trading conditions" which it blamed on the continued weakness of the dollar.

Europe's biggest processor of mackerel and herring, the Lerwick- based company also took a one-off "hit" to earnings of nearly (pounds) 600,000 last year, after an Eastern European customer, Baltiya, went out of business without paying its bills.
