MARTIN O'NEILL has had an extra week to digest Celtic's removal from European competition but, even so, yesterday's draws for the Champions League and UEFA Cup may have brought the return of a dull ache within his stomach.

Dramatic evenings against continental opposition have been a staple of O'Neill's tenure in recent seasons, but the remainder of the current campaign stretches out with only domestic squabbles to be attended. Rangers and Hearts followed Celtic out of Europe this week and the whitewash of Scotland's representatives has left an air of despondency lurking over the game ahead of this weekend's league card.
