IF the prerequisite for such fixtures is merely gaining match fitness, then it was job done for Partick Thistle and Bristol Rovers in a meeting that was function over fashion, writes Chris Jack.

This was Rovers' second game of their pre-season tour of Scotland and, after beating Morton on Saturday, they claimed their second scalp with a 2-0 win, courtesy of substitute Wayne Brown and Richard Elliot.
