I CAN'T recall many football managers getting up and doing Bob Hope-style song and dance routines. I knowMartin O'Neill once appeared on Top of the Pops, and JockWallace enjoyed playing the flute, but until last week I thought this was about the sum of it.

Then, my eyes popping, I sawwhat John Barnes, the former Celtic manager, got up to in Basra. Peculiar as it may sound, Barnes (pictured) went out there to entertain some utterly brassed-off British troops, forwhom possibly the last thing that was needed was the sight of the ex-Parkhead boss and now Five presenter coming to croon to them.
