NICK SMITH set the seal on the finest weekend of his career yesterday with a 60 metres victory which helped Scotland win the Celtic Indoor Cup in Cardiff.

His winning time of 6.79sec. was modest, but that could be excused after the drama of the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham a day earlier, where he eclipsed the cream of UK sprinting and broke the 23-year-old Scottish record.
