THE Law Society of Scotland has rebutted talk of potential job losses at its Edinburgh headquarters after the body's recent policy U-turn to favour an independent body to handle complaints about poor service by solicitors.

Nearly 40 staff work in the society's client relations department, handling thousands of consumer complaints a year - 80- per cent of which concern service-related matters. Sources close to the body told The Herald last week that many are worried about their jobs.
