A FORMER soldier who began a hunger strike at the weekend said he is prepared to starve himself to death in his attempt to secure a public inquiry into Gulf war syndrome.

Alexander Izett, 34, an ex-lance corporal from Cumbernauld, who now lives in Germany, has been battling for recognition of his illness for 10 years. He said he developed brittle bone disease and depression after being vaccinated prior to the 1990-91 Gulf war.
