SCOTTISH & Southern Energy is taking a minority stake in Edinburgh company Renewable Devices Swift Turbines, developer of what is said to be the first feasible wind energy system for mounting on roofs.

The Perth-based giant will work with the Edinburgh technology minnow to make, market and install the "Swift" system, and expects to generate 2000 orders worth up to (pounds) 9m over the next three years. Swift, which is planning-compliant and looks like a rooftop satellite dish, augments existing electricity systems.
