A PLAY about the Aids epidemic starring singer Marc Almond, several shows for children and a hard-hitting drama about knife gangs, are among the 17 Fringe shows officially being backed by the Scottish Government.

Money totalling pound(s)440,000 from the Government's Made in Scotland scheme will enable shows to be staged at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and possibly tour abroad after the August festival season.
