A sense of anti-climax prevailed in the home camp following this stalemate but the visitors headed away content with a job well done.

Much had been expected of a Morton side who had hit seven goals the week before while their opponents went down to lower league opposition. On this occasion just one precious goal would have been enough to give the Greenock men a winning start to the campaign against a side whose priority was to stop the opposition.
