SCOTTISH stalwart Thomas Tunnock Ltd, the family-owned manufacturer of tea cakes and caramel wafers, achieved a sharp rise in operating profits in its last financial year in tough market conditions.
Accounts obtained by The Herald from Companies House show that the company, run by 79-year-old Boyd Tunnock, enjoyed a 14% rise in operating profits from pound(s)655,314 to pound(s)745,471 in the year to February 28 in spite of a dip in turnover as it kept a lid on costs.
