* Sir Stephen Bubb, head of the charity chief executives' organisation Acevo, left, has written to retailers and supermarkets asking them to stop selling Health Lottery tickets. He says the new lottery will hit sales of the National Lottery, which gives more of its proceeds to good causes.
* NHS-based weight loss programmes are ineffective and compare unfavourably with commercial pro-grammes such as Weight-Watchers, according to researchers at Birmingham University.
