SEVEN people and two dogs were rescued by coastguards after becoming trapped by a fast-moving tide on the Solway Firth.

Lifeboatmen on a training exercise spotted the group get into difficulty yesterday on the sands between the popular Sandyhills holiday beach five miles south of Dalbeattie in Kirkcudbrightshire.
