SUDAN has agreed to a joint withdrawal of government and rebel forces in Darfur and will accept a large rise in international ceasefire monitors, Tony Blair said last night as he left Khartoum for the second session of his Commission for Africa in Ethiopia.

The prime minister said Sudan had also committed to identifying the location of its troops and weapons in Darfur and working towards comprehensive peace agreements with rebels by the end of the year.
