DAVID Martin, Scotland's most senior MEP, survived a 90-minute grilling from five members of Labour's governing body over his expenses yesterday to remain as the party's leading Scottish candidate in next month's European elections.
Mr Martin, a vice president of the European Parliament, who has faced a six-week investigation into his financial arrangements, remained at the top of the list after agreeing that an external auditor should review his accounts.
