SWINE flu has peaked, reaching the high summer plateau across the UK that experts predicted, according to new figures.

The number of people infected in Scotland has dropped in the past week, health officials said. Estimates suggest about 3000 people contracted the H1N1 virus, down from more than 4000 the previous week.
