Rocket science has been brought into use at the home of golf to help make it more difficult for the world's leading players to reach for the stars.
The R&A, custodians of the integrity of the game, are using modified missiletracking equipment to keep a check on the stratospheric progress of golf balls, and have taken on Dr Steve Otto, a former Nasa scientist, to analyse the results at St Andrews.
