IT is said, by no less an authority than Quentin Tarantino, to be the best arthouse cinema in the world. But it appears that reputation alone will not save Edinburgh's Cameo from losing more than 200 seats as its main auditorium becomes a bar.

The cinema at Tollcross, the oldest in the city and loved by patrons for its character and atmosphere, is being sold by City Screen, the London-based parent group which owns a string of picture houses across the UK, to an unknown buyer.
