THE Queen and David Cameron offered their condolences yesterday to the families of the 29 miners killed in the New Zealand mine disaster, as the country's leaders vowed to learn lessons from the tragedy.

The men - including two Scots -were trapped under hundreds of metres of solid rock last Friday after a gas explosion.
