The week got off to a terrible start for ministers as the "cash for access" row rumbled on and The Herald revealed a new poll showed Labour had overhauled the SNP in public standings.

On Tuesday, Tory leader David Cameron accused Alex Salmond of fooling the people. It was revealed Network Rail mooted the idea of using its borrowing powers to take over the Glasgow Airport Rail Link but this came to nothing.
