Tesco chief says taxes need to go down

TESCO chief executive Sir Terry Leahy yesterday warned the government that taxes and regulations needed to be scaled back to help retailers survive the recession as he cautioned that conditions on the high street are "very fluid".

Leahy told the British Retail Consortium annual conference that "more taxes means less to spend investing in customers".
