Summary
AFTER some two years of chaos and inconvenience for residents and small businesses along and adjacent to Edinburgh's tram route and in recognition of the many thank yous from Transport Initiatives Edinburgh (TIE) for our patience, I wish personally to express my appreciation to TIE, the contractors and the city council for their seasonal gift of two large craters in the Haymarket area ("Edinburgh trams on track but work rate below target, says chief", The Herald, December 12).
With this typical act of generosity they have prolonged the agony for people living and working in the area, as well as pedestrians and cyclists They have ensured that many of the streets of Edinburgh's West End will continue to enjoy high volumes of traffic, including heavy goods vehicles, buses and cars, "controlled" by what we are told are simply "advisory" rules of the road.See the full content of this document
