In a galaxy far away

PRINCE Eddie, or the Earl of Wessex to give him his Sunday name, whizzed around Glasgow yesterday shaking hands, planting trees, eating sandwiches, and so on. In the city's east end the prince is being introduced to local worthies by deputy lord lieutenant and former lord provost, Susan Baird, who describes new Mount Vernon councillor Euan McLeod as Ewan McGregor. A puzzled expression appeared on the royal visage - what was the star of Star Wars doing in Glasgow on a wet and windy Tuesday morning? The young McLeod - possibly Scotland's youngest councillor - muttered a heartfelt "I wish" before correcting the mistake. As a loyal Labour councillor, he has of course no plans to take on the Evil Empire.
