Pupils teaching teachers and other 'ridiculous' ideas Am I the only person to see the absurdity of pupils telling teachers what they should do and how they should teach? (The Herald Society, February 7).

Scottish education has been ruined over the past two decades by people who (a) have never been teachers or (b) teachers who have managed to get out of the classroom because they couldn't teach. Both groups have lost track of the basic tenets of good classroom management: establish control of the class, know your subject and know how to deliver it.
