Summary
THERE is a hidden agenda behind the hand-wringing over so-called homophobic bullying (June 25) . The real target is not the bully, but those who are still prepared to defend the traditional belief that homosexual acts are immoral and depraved. The Catechism of the Catholic Church does, indeed, say that homosexual persons are to be treated with respect, compassion and sensitivity. It also says that through the virtue of self-mastery, by prayer and God's grace they can approach perfection like anyone else.
But it makes a clear distinction between the homosexual person and homosexual acts; the latter, according to the Church, are "intrinsically disordered and under no circumstances can they be approved".See the full content of this document
