Summary
When Arthur Miller's 1968 play about family values in a changing world was first produced, the whiff of revolution in the air looked set to dislodge the American dream so it would never look the same again.
Miller's tale of two brothers selling off their dead father's furniture as they meet for the first time in 16 years dates the cause of their estrangement back to the Wall Street Crash of 1929, when their old man appeared to have lost everything.
