For a moment it was an alarming and surprising thought: Tracey is a Tory! At the weekend I was told that the enfant terrible of British contemporary art had thrown her artistic weight behind the Conservative Party. She had sat down with them and thought they were good beans, and, I was asked, what did I make of that? Well that's certainly vaguely interesting, I thought.
As it turned out, the artist, who spends quite a lot of time in Scotland, will not be actively on the stump for the Tories at the next General Election. In fact, in an interview, she had as many warm words to say about Gordon Brown and his wife, Sarah, as she did about David Cameron and his chums.
