Summary

IFYOU'RE looking for a bit of post election very, very light relief, Thoroughly Modern Millie might just be your thing. Based on the 1967 oscar-winning film, which starred Julie Andrews in the role of the effervescent Millie, this is an all-singing, all-dancing classic tale of grand ambition, American-style.

Small-town Kansas girl, Millie (played by the excellent Donna Steele, reprising her West End role) , comes to the big smoke in search of fame, fortune and a very rich husband. She checks into a dodgy hotel, managed by the proprietorial Mrs Meers (a larger-than- life failed New York chorus girl, posing as a motherly Japanese lady, played to comic effect by Elaine C Smith) who does a nice sideline in the oriental white slave racket.
