I WISH to draw your attention to a serious and fundamental flaw in the attitude of the ferry and train services in the Oban area. I travelled on June 21 with two visiting American friends and my two- year-old son to Tobermory. The timetable allowed us to do this as a day return, letting my visitors see lots of Scotland, and my son could visit "Balamory".

The train was delayed going up, but train staff alerted the connecting boat. The train made up time, and we enjoyed a perfect day. On the way back, the boat was late. We assumed the same communication was made, but we still got off the boat as promptly as we could.
