THE Scottish Tories were in fresh turmoil last night, with senior figures split overwhether they should become fully independent from the UK Conservative Party.

Murdo Fraser, the enterprise spokesman tipped as a possible successor to David McLetchie, suggested the party in Scotland could separate from the UK Conservatives to pursue its own distinctive policies and identity.
