I fully agree with Gordon MacGregor Richmond's erudite repudiation of attempts by some of your correspondents to justify the killing of Osama bin Laden (Letters, May 9).
Mr Richmond's censure applies equally to your editorial ("Uneasy about the detail, but better dead than alive", May 6) and to David Pratt's essay ("Bin Laden's killing gives West a real opportunity", May 6), both of which seek to legitimise extra-judicial killing, albeit in exceptional cases, for the sake of the greater good.See the full content of this document
