TRADE union Amicus has demanded immediate meetings with the management of Alvis following the decision of the tank-maker's board to recommend a last-minute bid from defence giant BAE Systems.

The aerospace union is concerned that BAE may seek to recover the cost of its audacious 320p-a-share offer which saw off US military contractor General Dynamics' recommended 280p deal.
