America's PGA Tour has been accused of relying on foreign golfers to preserve prize-money at the level at which Fiji's Vijay Singh has won over $10m this season.

The comments came from the leading British promoter, Andrew "Chubby" Chandler, yesterday, as Tim Finchem, the US Tour commissioner, seemed to back down over a perception that South Africa's Ernie Els was under pressure to increase his commitment of a minimum 15 US tour events to 20.
