A WOMAN who waited in pain for 23 hours for admission to a hospital ward last night said she would have been "better off at the vet" than treated by the NHS.

Marion Kyle offered to take Jack McConnell, the first minister, round Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where she had to wait, so he could see the state of patients for himself.
