PARAMEDICS are preparing for hundreds of sprains, breaks and potential cases of hypothermia across Scotland as more than 200,000 revellers take to the streets just as the temperature dips over the Bells.

Edinburgh City Council, which hosts the country's largest party, said its event is one of the safest of its kind but warned all those spending time outside to dress and act sensibly, while the Lothians' medical chief warned people not to drink too much, as hypothermia hits more easily when alcohol has lowered the body temperature.
