STEVEN Whittaker has rejected a contract offer which would have made him Rangers' second-highest paid player on around pound(s)1m-a- year. The club now plan to hold him to the final year of his existing deal and let him leave as a free agent next summer after rejecting a fourth bid from Bursaspor yesterday.
The Turkish club made an offer of around pound(s)800,000 for the 27-year-old Scotland player, but Rangers would rather get a final year's service out of Whittaker than sell him to Bursaspor or a club in the Barclays Premier League.
