ONE OF the fiercest debates within Zionism has been whether the State of Israel has the right and duty to speak and act on behalf of all Jews worldwide, not only of its own citizens, and the corollary that all Jews worldwide have a duty to speak and act on behalf of Israel - that is, to act as agents of Israel. I am an advocate of Palestinian rights, not an agent, though I can understand that the semantic distinction is too subtle for Ms Soudry and Mr Green (Letters, July 20); but then subtlety is not a characteristic of Gush Emunim or Kach.
