I NOTE the vitriol expressed against politicians by Peter Spinney (Letters, May 24). He accuses us of being anti-democratic, among other things. This is unadulterated drivel and here's why.
Anyone can stand for election in this country and in local elections there isn't even a deposit required to show you are serious. In some councils there are significant numbers of Independents. Nobody forces anyone to vote for members of a political party.See the full content of this document
