Summary
YOUR editorial, A clear need for leadership (March 14), makes interesting reading but it fails to recognise that schools now exist in a highly competitive environment and a school is only as good as its position in last year's league tables. For head teachers to agree to release some of their ablest staff could put at risk their school's position in the league tables. It is also highly unlikely that parents will be willing to put their child's performance in the Highers at risk, no matter how desirable the leadership proposal.
The Sir Tom Hunter Foundation's leadership proposal is innovative, imaginative and exciting and must be moved forward. It would appear that the implementation needs a lot more detailed work in order to allay what could be the justifiable fears of head teachers and parents.See the full content of this document
