AT LAST a journalist who has the courage to look objectively at the prospect of Turkey joining the European Union. Harry Reid's article (September 20) on Turkey's application formembership of the EU was welcome relief to some of the drivel over the past few months about why it should be stopped from joining.
Since the French and Dutch referendums on the new constitution, most writers have avoided the subject of Turkey as a large percentage who voted No in these ballots were clearly out to scupper the chances of that country gaining access to the EU.
